In the opening round of nominations, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Sergio Aguero, Allison and Kevin de Bryune made the 30-man shortlist.
Now Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer, won last year's Ballon d'Or and is again a contender.
The 33-year-old scored a staggering 44 goals in 44 games last season, helping Los Blancos win the UEFA Champions League.
And after completing a club-record switch to Serie A champions Juve, the legendary forward has netted four goals and registered five assists in eight league outings.
