Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela has offered assurance to the club’s supporters that they will be competing in next season’s MTN8 campaign.
Chiefs are left with two games to salvage something from what has been yet another awry season in as far as the Absa Premiership is concerned.
Currently in seventh position, the Soweto side are at risk of finishing outside of the top eight since 2006/07, when they ended ninth on the final standings with 42 points.
They are also at risk of worsening that record low of points total set that season, having managed just 38 points from their 28 games thus far.
However, Mahlasela is adamant they will do the necessary in their remaining games against Free State Stars and Chippa United to ensure their places in next season’s opening tournament.
“I think with these remaining two games, we need to make sure we get six points out of them so that we end the season well on the league’s side, of course, before the Nedbank Cup final,” said Mahlasela.
“Everyone is aware of the situation we’re in at the moment, so we’re pulling the weight together as a team. We’ll be working hard to ensure we play in the MTN8 next season.”
