Kalaba, Nyirenda in line for awards

Kalaba, who last season attended trials at Mamelodi Sundowns, has been nominated for the award alongside Under-20 national team talisman Emmanuel Mayuka and his team mate at Zesco Enock Sakala.

Mayuka has been a household name since his splendid show at the 2007 World Youth Championship in Canada.

Kalaba and Sakala have been Zesco's star players this season as evidenced with the winning of the Super Division title while the duo is also in the running for the Super Division’s top scorer award. Both have hit the target 23 times this season.

Zesco have also laid their hands on the Charity Shield and the Coca-Cola Cup and are in the semi finals of the Mosi Cup. The Ndola-based outfit are also in the finals of the inaugural Barclays Cup.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Wedson Nyirenda, now coach for Zesco, has been nominated for the coach of the Year award which has also attracted, Green Buffaloes and Under-20 head coach George Lwandamina and Oswald Mutapa of Lusaka Dynamos.
