Contract negotiations with the National First Division club continue to drag and it is believed that Mphela retains an interest in playing in the PSL once again.

“[He] has been back home in Gauteng but he remains in talks with Eagles and actually met them during their camp in Johannesburg last week," says a source.

"When the season started he trained with them but then stopped and went back home. He is probably be back with Eagles on Monday for further discussions that will seek to settle the issue about the contract extension, there is a minor outstanding issue that still needs to be sorted out."

'Killer' spent the past season with the Durban-based outfit and managed nine goals from 17 starts during a campaign hampered by injury.

The 31-year-old Mphela remains one of the highest scoring forwards in the PSL with 78 goals, most of which came during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.
