Despite losing 3-0 against Vasco da Gama in the Vodacom League finals at Ikageng Stadium yesterday, Kicks, who are owned by Free State Stars boss Mike Mokoena’s son, Motebang, still qualify for promotion to the First Division by virtue of the fact that were a finalist at the tournament.

_quoteCoach of the Free State-based outfit, Themba Sithole attributed their loss to Vasco da Gama yesterday to fatigue, but sounded warning bells to their opponents in First Division that they will not be easy meat in the league next season.

“There was no time to relax in the Vodacom play-offs and fatigue started to take its toll on my players, hence we did not perform well in the finals.

“However, I’m happy with what I, as head coach, have achieved with this team in less than a season.

“We are definitely not going to the First Division for a holiday; we intend to give it our best shot.

“Our mission is to stabilise the team in first season and ensure that the team is not relegated. After that, we can begin focusing to taking the team up to the Premier League.

“I will be meeting with management on Wednesday to draw up plans for next season. I am already speaking to number of players whom I hope to sign to boost the team.”
