Lekgetho withdraws WC prostitution remarks

“I wish to submit my profound and unreserved apology to all women of South Africa for the manner in which these comments in the portfolio committee were attributed,” he said.

Lekgetho sparked an outcry when said the decriminalisation of prostitution would reduce the incidents of rape in SA.

African Christian Democratic Party MP Cheryllyn Dudley has slammed suggestions that prostitution should be legalised for the tournament and she called for the state to protect the weak and vulnerable in society whom prostitution most targets.

“Legalising prostitution could be likened to legalising assault,” she said.
