Having recently recovered from an abdominal muscle injury, the 31-year-old then sustained a knee injury against Santos shortly after his return to action.
“I have now been told by the doctors that if there is no improvement with my knee in the next three weeks, then I must go for an operation.
“That will definitely mean the end of my season; and just when I was beginning to feel motivated,” Lekgwathi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Why Romano Scott of Santos pushed me with such force in our Nedbank Cup match still puzzles me. But I have learnt the art of fighting injuries from coach Owen da Gama. I also went to the Johannesburg Stadium last Friday to attend an all night prayer session conducted by Pastor Chris,” says Lekgwathi.
Apart from Lekgwathi, defenders Destin Makita, Lehlohonolo Seema and Kelebogile Mabe are all on Bucs injury list.
