This is the second time in recent months the Mohlakeng-born right-back suffers such an injury.
In March earlier this year the 26-year-old tore ligaments in his knee during a Nedbank Cup match against Santos – the injury saw him miss out the remainder of the 2007/08 season.
According to a report on Bucs’ website, Mabe is due to see a surgeon within the next couple of days.
“Kelebogile consulted a specialist, who stated that the player will need surgery. He will be out for about six-to-eight weeks,” confirmed club physiotherapist John Williams.
Mabe – although disappointed with this recent setback, vowed to bounce back soon.
“I am very frustrated at the moment and I don’t know what to say or do anymore. However, I have to be strong for my family and do the right thing.
“I will be operated on early in September so that I can finally get this injury sorted as soon as possible, so that I can start concentrating on my career without fearing a recurrence of the injury.
“I would also like to assure the rest of our supporters that with their prayers and the Almighty God’s will, I will bounce back.”
Meanwhile, good news coming out from the medical room is that Thembile Kanono and Lucky Lekgwathi are recovering well and were both given a run in the friendly match against Platinum Stars earlier this week.
