Mahlangu claims his contract expiry date was changed

Mahlangu claims that his contract with the Rabbits, who sold their Absa Premiership franchise to Thanda Royal Zulu, expired in 2007.

He adds that he has now taken the matter to the Dispute Resolution Chamber in the hope of being declared a free agent.

According to Mahlangu, he has no contract with Thanda and says he is surprised to learn that the contract he signed with Ndlovu in 2004, which was set to expire in 2007, has been changed to 2009.

The Mpumalanga-born midfielder agreed to train with Thanda before the Christmas break hoping that his contractual dispute with the team would be resolved, but he now says that he will not be returning to KwaZulu Natal in January without having his clearance in his hand.

“My hope now is that the DRC can resolve this matter because the contract that I signed with the team when it was promoted to the PSL was set to expire in 2007.

“All that I need now is to be declared a free agent so that I can join a team of my choice. I don’t have a problem to play for Thanda, but it will depend on whether I go there with my clearance in my hand so that we can negotiate a new contract.”
