News of Phiri’s deal has ended speculation that First Division Inland Stream Mpumalanga Black Aces were gunning for his services.

The Alexandra-born midfielder, who began his professional career at Jomo Cosmos and then moved to Turkey before returning home, is expected to start training on Monday.

This will be his second stint with the Dube Birds, he moved to Tshwane to join Matsatsantsa at the start of the 2006 season.

Aces spokesperson Thabo Moroape tells KickOff.com that they were keen to sign Phiri and they were prepared to offer him a great deal.

“We are now looking at other options, including talking to Orlando Pirates about a few of their players. Hopefully, we can clinch a deal soon.”

Moroape also confirms that former Orlando Pirates defender Sam Pam has joined Amazayoni as assistant coach.
