Mkandawire and his teammate Chiukepo Msowoya have earned the wrath of Flames coach Steve Constantine, renowned for his strict discipline measures, by snubbing their call-up in favour of trip to South Africa.

Constantine has stamped his authority by sidelining three senior players from the national team that went into camp at the weekend at Chiwembe Technical Centre.

MTL Wanderers’ exciting full back Bernard Kalilani was among the players that were sent back home after reporting late for training on Sunday while Escom United’s Mkandawire and Msowoya gave no reason for their absence.

So far Constantine has 30 players in camp; five sent back for late arrival and the two who snubbed the call-up.

FAM spokesperson Casper Jangale confirmed that Kalilani, despite being a senior player, was one of the five players that were sent back for reporting late.

The names of other players that were sent back were not readily available.
