Malope hints at Benoni revival

accreditation

Malope says that the Ndlovu family, who sold the Rabbits to a Swedish consortium, are in the process of buying another club, but at this stage he is in the dark regarding the status of the new team.

“I don’t know whether it will be an Mvela League outfit or one in the Vodacom League,” he adds.

Questioned about the League’s ruling regarding a club boss selling one franchise and then buying another, Malope says he understands that club will be owned by Dumisani Ndlovu’s brother, Makhosini.

This circumvents the ruling and is similar to the case where Patrick Malabela sold Dynamos to Patrick Sokhela, and Sokhela sold AmaZulu’s Mvela franchise back to Malabela’s brother, July.

Malope could have a strong foundation to build a new team as two of his stars from last season, July Mahlangu and Tshepo Masilela, did not follow their teammates to Durban-based Thanda Royal FC (formerly Benoni).

Both players, who were not part of the sale, attended trials overseas recently but are back in South Africa awaiting further developments.
