Since joining Usuthu in August, Maluleke has started just one match and come on as a substitute in three others as he plays second fiddle to giant Ivorian striker Serge Djiehoua.

“The reason why I haven’t been playing is because the coaches prefers to play with one striker upfront and Serge has been doing very well in that role.

“The bench believes in the system of playing one striker and the fact that I am being kept around proves I am still part of the coach’s plans,” says Maluleke.

_quoteDespite not playing the nomadic striker says he is ‘doing fine’ and is well focused on breaking into the starting line-up.

“I am working very hard at training and the coach is well aware of that. I haven’t had any injury worries so my focus is totally on breaking into the team.

“I don’t have a problem with anyone at the club and I know that if my chance comes I will prove my ability,” says the hitman who has been on the sidelines for the past two years due to injury.

The 30 year-old was top scorer in the 2001/02 season with 18 League goals while he was at the now defunct Manning Rangers.

From there moved to Mamelodi Sundowns where his career stalled. Subsequent moves to Silver Stars and Jomo Cosmos also brought little joy.
