Manchester United keep pace in Premier League top-four battle with victory over Sunderland

The match proved a lively affair in the opening 45 minutes, with United’s slight dominance eventually bearing fruit after 30 minutes, Zlatan Ibrahimovic producing a goal out of nothing, curling the ball past Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net.

Things then went from bad to worse for Sunderland as Sebastian Larsson was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Ander Herrera, leaving the Black Cats down to 10 men with just 43 minutes gone on the clock.

The Red Devils would then rub salt into the wounds just one minute after the restart as Henrikh Mkhitaryan ghosted past two defenders before rifling his shot past the goalkeeper.

And, Jose Mourinho’s men added some extra gloss to the score line with one minute of normal time remaining, Marcus Rashford getting in on the action after a brilliant pass from Ibrahimovic to play his striker parter through.
