Mannetti takes up coaching reins

Paul Stramis, the Civics manager, told the Namibian press that Mannetti’s presence will lift the morale of the players as the season enters peak level.

“Ricardo has a wealth of experience and he is an important acquisition for us. The players are happy with his appointment and the morale is high in our camp.

“We have also signed new contracts with our players, increasing their winning bonuses. We don’t believe in draws and don’t pay bonuses for draws since we believe it’s a loss of two points.

“But we have given an increase of more than three fold in bonuses for victories and I believe this motivated the players against Ramblers,” Stramis is quoted as saying.

Mannetti featured in 123 games for Santos, sandwiched between by a brief spell at First Division side Avendale Athletico.

Having joined the Cape Town team in 1997, Mannetti impressed with his midfield displays though he fell out with management and returned to Namibia at one time.

However, he remained under contract and made peace with the club before going on loan to Avendale Athletico.

After his many years at Santos, Mannetti then played at Bush Bucks during the 2005-06 season where he started 15 games.

He left when the East London club was relegated and returned to Namibia.
