Mashiri, Chazika join CAPS United

Chazika and Mashiri played together at Zimbabwean champions Dynamos a couple of years ago in a team that was pregnant with youngsters and was eventually christened ‘Kidznet’.

The arrival of the duo at CAPS has re-ignited the hopes of United who are desperate for glory this season and are aiming to make a strong challenge for the league title.

Mashiri’s arrival at the Luke Masomere-coached side comes after a six-month stay in the wilderness following his walk out from Dynamos last year just a couple of months after rejoining them.

Prior to reuniting with Dynamos, Mashiri had his contract with Santos terminated after he was injured in December 2006. He joined the Capetonians after the now-defunct Bush Bucks went into liquidation.

The 24-year-old midfielder didn’t play a single game for Santos as the club already had already filled its quota of foreign players.

Chazika, a composed defender who made a diluted impression at Supersport United, has been brought in to stabilise the defence.

Though injury prone, Chazika has proved his quality at Buymore where he has been playing since returning from South Africa.
