Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham deserve more credit

Spurs have not claimed a title under Pochettino since he took over the reins at the club in 2014, losing in the League Cup final in 2015 and falling short in the Premier League championship race last season.

However, Pochettino, whose team are occupying second position in the league, has hit back at the criticism, insisting that what they've managed to achieve should be praised and that a top-four finish is great.

"Sometimes I hear people saying: 'Tottenham must win a title this season or next season' but come on," he told a news conference, according to ESPN.

"We are more interested than anyone to win titles. But compare us with different teams and I think you start to realise we deserve a lot of credit because to compete in that reality is so, so difficult.

"Win titles? Sometimes you can win a title but look at the FA Cup, how expensive it is today.

"The two semifinals are Chelsea versus Tottenham and Arsenal versus Manchester City. I don't remember, in the last four years, this type of semifinal.

"And with the top six, the investment, Tottenham deserve full credit and I think more respect not to talk about just winning titles. In the end, if we achieve the top four it is good for us."
