Mbele began Sfaxien’s 3-0 rout of Astres Douala of Cameroon on Saturday to cement their position at the top of Group A when he opened the scoring just before half time.

Second half goals from Ivory Coast's Blaise Kouassi and Tunisia’s Hamza Younes secured victory for their side.

Sfaxien now lead the group with 10 points from five games and go into their final group game against Mamelodi Sundowns knowing victory will secure them a spot in the final.

In Group A’s other game, Dr Congo’s TP Mazembe triumphed over Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa 3-1.

Congo's trio of Mputu Mabi, Patou Kabangu and Alan Kaluyitukadioko all scored for the DR Congo side.Lungisani Ndlela scored a consolation for the Brazilians five minutes from time, but it was too little too late.

Mazembe stay second in Group A with nine points, but will need a victory against Astres Douala and hope Sfaxien lose away to Sundowns to have any hope of going through to the final.

Meanwhile in Group B, the all Nigerian tie between Kwara United and Dolphin ended in a goalless draw.

Dolphins currently lie 2nd in the group with seven points, while Kwara United are bottom with five.
