This comes after Mhlongo stamped on the leg of the Amakhosi coach during a touchline confrontation which was not spotted by referee Jonas Nhlapo.
“I apologise to coach Muhsin Ertugral for my improper actions and I hope he finds it somewhere in his heart to forgive me,” Mhlongo told the official Sundowns website.
“As players, we need to show more respect to officials and be good role models for the youngsters. It was in the heat of the moment and I also want to apologise to the Chiefs’ supporters and management.”
“It was unprofessional of me to allow the frustrations of being a goal down to go to my head and I regretted it later. It was the pressure of the game, we were chasing the game and trying to equalise,” concluded Mhlongo.
