Mkhonza, who was looking to sign with United, was handed his clearance by Matsatsantsa more than six weeks ago.
The People’s Choice coach Gordon Igesund tells snl24.com/kickoff that they are no longer interested in signing the KwaThema-born defender.
“Siphiwe trained with us for almost a week and then told me that he was going to Johannesburg to collect his personal belongs and would be at training the following Monday.
“However, he never showed up at training and has not called me since. I still rate him very highly, but am disappointed that he just disappeared without telling me that he would not be coming back. I think his heart is in Johannesburg and, because of his actions, I have lost all interest in signing him.”
Efforts to get hold of Mkhonza’s manager, Jazzman Mahlakgane, to establish the whereabouts of the player, proved futile at the time of compiling this report.
