The Bafana Bafana defender is part of a major clean out at the Athens club by new manager Henk Ten Cate, who has joined after a brief spell at Chelsea under Avram Grant last season.
Morris told snl24.com/kickoff on Tuesday that he hopes to have the transfer fixed by Friday.
“I have just left the training camp in Austria to sort it out. It is 100 percent I’m leaving and will be joining a new club outside of Greece. The club is getting rid of a lot of players. They said I didn’t have a good season in the last campaign and have decided to let me go.”
Morris said it was disappointing, but also “a new start”.
The defender, who missed the recent Bafana Bafana World Cup qualifiers because of injury, said he had been training without any difficulties in Austria with Panathinaikos and was fit for his new assignment.
Morris’ move comes despite denials by his agent Mike Maakab earlier this month that he would be leaving Panathinaikos.
The 27-year-old centre back has been in Greece for the past seven season, first at Aris Salonika and then Panathinaikos, where hew played 118 matches over five season including several Uefa Champions League ties.
