Renowned football administrator Peter Koutroulis is back in professional football.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns official is said to have been appointed as team manager at struggling Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Pretoria Callies.

According to the club, Koutroulis will from now on serve as the club's manager.

As reported by KickOff recently, the club's former striker Collins Mbesuma also returns, this time as a member of the technical staff.

Forgotten striker Siphelele Mthembu has also been signed.

Callies are currently propping the 16-team league with only eight points gathered in 12 matches.

"When you look at the position of the team it's not doing very well," club chairman Moses Malada tells KickOff.

"And most of us in the team are new to this game of football.

"So Koutrollis brings in that experience in terms of managing the team.

"Sometimes you can blame the coach and players but only to find that the problem might be much more administrative, the players' welfare and everything.

"We thought it would be good to give him a run before he retires so that we can learn."

Malada also explained the arrival of  Mbesuma and Mthembu at the club.

"Mbesuma is coming in as a striker coach, the team has been playing very well but we have not been scoring goals.

"So the coach felt we probably needed someone to concentrate on our strikers. As for why Mbesuma? The record speaks for itself.

"And he has just finished his coaching course. We just trying to rebuild the team.

"And our head coach is not being released, he is still very much part of the vision of the team. A three-year plan. He has brought in very good youngsters. He has delivered on the mandate of the team.

"We have managed to secure Siphelele Mthembu' signature. With people like Koutrollis everything is possible. He is coming to bring stability to our strike force.

"When we approached him he said I can come and help until the end of the season."
