The Buccaneers have named seven first team players to battle it out for their first monthly prize of the new season, which is sponsored by electronic giants LG.
Goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane, defender Happy Jele, midfielders Vincent Pule, Xola Mlambo and Ben Motshwari, as well as strikers Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga have all made the shortlist.
Mpontshane has made five appearances this season after taking over from Wayne Sandilands, who stood between the sticks in the club's season-opener, and has kept one clean sheet while conceding five goals.
Skipper Jele has featured in every single minute of Pirates' six games thus far this season. He scored the opening penalty in the team's shootout defeat to SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarterfinals.
Pule has started each of the six games this season, scoring his maiden goal for the club in their recent 2-1 victory over Black Leopards, since arriving from Bidvest Wits in the off-season.
Mlambo has also started all of his side's fixtures this season, featuring 90 minutes in all except their 1-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic, and has managed two assists.
Another recently acquired former Wits man, Motshwari made his debut in the MTN8 quarterfinal, and subsequently started and completed the last three Absa Premiership outings.
Up front, Shonga has started three while coming on as a substitute in the rest of their six games this season, registering one goal and one assist thus far.
Mulenga, meanwhile, has managed three starts in all competitions this season before suffering an injury in Pirates' 1-0 defeat to Bidvest Wits, and has contributed one cup goal and one league assist.
