Having played for Maccabi Haifa for several seasons starting from 1995, then at the peak of his career, no one knows the pressures of playing in Israeli topflight better than the former Zimbabwe international striker.

‘The Silver Fox’ reveals that he has already alerted Fanteni about conditions in the Middle East as the Capetonian prepares for his move to Maccabi Haifa.

“The biggest challenge that he is going to face is racism and I have already spoken to him about the issue,” Mugeyi tells Kick Off.com.

Fanteni will be headed for the ‘Manchester United’ of Israel after the 2008 African Nations Cup having impressed the overseas club’s technical staff during a trial stint in the off-season.

The fact that Haifa is probably the biggest club in the Middle East could put the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana striker under tremendous pressure to deliver, the Ajax assistant coach adds.

However, Mugeyi believes Fanteni’s capabilities in front of goal, as well as his indomitable character, will steer him to success at the 18 000-seater Kiryat Eliezer Stadium and beyond.

Mugeyi says the fact that his Bafana teammate Tshepo Masilela is also at the club could also work to Terror’s advantage.
