The Tycoons, who have only collected three points in their last six games, played to a 1-1 draw against Bucs who were leading 1-0 in the first half.
Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff after the game, Mulonzo said his team deserved the full three points against their visitors but Lady Luck was not in their side.
“We created more clear-cut chances than Pirates. There was one occasion where Dingane Masanabo simply had to put the ball into the back of the net but he missed. We tried everything to win but it appeared that somehow something had decided there was no way we were going change the outcome of the game.
“We will continue working hard to collect the last six points on offer before we go for break next weekend,” said Mulonzo who defended his decision to pull out midfielder Steve Lekoelea at the start of second half.
“Steve has not played football for the past eight months and is still struggling with his match fitness. In fact, our strategy is to get him to a high level of fitness slowly by giving him at least 30 minutes in each game.”
Club CEO larry Brookestone announced on Thursday that Mulonzo and co-coach Allan Freese would be replaced by Miguel Gamondi, with Cavin Johnson assisting the Argentine.
Meanwhile Pirates captain, Lucky Lekgwathi says Bucs were happy with the result because they managed to keep their current unbeaten record intact.
“It was always going to be difficult playing them at home and, having being walloped by Swallows in their last game; they were not to going to have a repeat of that result. For our part, coming home with a point from an away game is important to us,” he adds.
