Nahayo, Gould out of Santos' clash

Nahayo received his third yellow card in their game against Orlando Pirates at the weekend.

That rules the soft-spoken central defender out of contention for the crucial tie against the People’s Team in Cape Town.

Nahayo is joined on the sidelines by fellow defender Morgan Gould who saw red in the same game and is suspended for this match. The two have been pillars of strength in the Cosmos’ defence which has kept 10 clean sheets in the same number of goalless draws.

Coach Jomo Sono now has to juggle things around with the return of Namibian international, Sydney Plaatjies to full fitness following an injury.

While the unavailability of the two may seem harsh on Cosmos at this stage it also affords others like Godfrey Mahlangu to also show what they are made of.

Team manager, Andrew Rabutla is also optimistic as he warned Santos not “to write us off yet.”

Rabutla acknowledges on the club’s website that the Cape side is playing really well at the moment and that they are sure to give Ezenkosi a torrid time because of their home ground advantage. He, however, believes that the Capetonians will be undermining Cosmos at their own peril as Sono’s side is desperate for points and the opposition’s log standing has nothing to do with their quest to move from the 15th spot they currently occupy.
