Umoya got to the last eight stage of the competition by eliminating another NFD side, Mbombela United. Before that they had knocked out Tshwane University of Technology in the last 32. The Cape side are unbeaten in their last five games.
Mpumalanga-based Galaxy reached the quarters following a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Jomo Cosmos.
The two sides have already met twice this season in the league. Goals from Galaxy's Zairon Abrahams and Umoya's Nathan Paulse saw the two sides play to a 1-1 draw at Kameelrivier Stadium in the first round, while in the second round last month, Sipho Senne's strike gave the Cape side a 1-0 win.
Galaxy right-back Mfundo Phungwayo believes past results between the two teams won't matter.
"[We are expecting to] win, we want to progress to the next stage, that's our expectation," Phungwayo tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Certainly it should be a morale-booster for them but nevertheless I think we are all mentally strong and ready for this game. We have worked hard and we are going to give our best regardless of what has happened before tomorrow, it will be new game and a new day.
"We have played two games against [them], we drew the first game and the second game we lost after they only created one chance and buried it in the last minute when we created a lot of chances and couldn't even convert a penalty. But that's nothing, this will be a new game with fresh minds, we are going to do our best."
Phungwayo believes reaching the semi-finals will be a great achievement to the people of the rural former Kwandebele area where the team is based.
"Yhoo it would mean a lot, at least that would be us thanking them with something tangible for the full support they have given us for the whole season," he added.
