Arrows, who are seventh in the league standings with six matches left, tomorrow host Platinum Stars in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup at Princess Magogo Stadium (15h00).
"From our side, I just said to the players a couple of days ago, right now we are inside the top eight and in the quarters," said Larsen.
"We'd like to keep our place in the top eight and progress further in the cup and that will really be a great season for us; progressing in the cup and finishing inside the top eight.
"But going out in the quarter-finals and losing a top-eight place will make it a poor season for us according to myself, because we missed out on the top eight by goal difference last season.
"It was the first time in my career I finished outside of the top eight in years. So it was very, very disappointing from a personal point of view but also from the club's point of view, and we don't want to do the same.
"But like I said, we'd like to make this season a memorable season by advancing to the semi-finals and finishing as high up as possible in the top eight."
Larsen guided Bloemfontein Celtic to Telkom Knockout glory in 2012, while he won the league as a player with Manning Rangers in 1996 and Orlando Pirates in 2001.
Larsen is certain a victory tomorrow will bolster his players' belief that they can go all the way and claim silverware.
"If we do progress on Saturday we can now start believing. They can start to believe that we are 90 minutes away from the final.
"I just asked them the other day, 'how many of you have won the league title? How many of you have won a trophy?' And four out of 30 hands went up.
"And I said, 'I've won the Knockout and I've won two league titles and your career could quickly go before your eyes and you could finish without winning a trophy.
"Opportunities don't come as good as they are right now. So the time is now, the time is right for them to stand up and make the best of this opportunity."
Abafana Bes'thende have been boosted by the return of midfielder Nkanyiso Cele from injury after he missed the last eight matches in all competitions.
