Chiefs will be wary of a potential ‘banana-peal’ situation against the third division outfit, who may prove a tough nut to crack given the limited information available around them.
However, Middendorp has revealed that Amakhosi obtained their own research in order to profile Tornado ahead of this afternoon’s clash but stresses the importance of imposing themselves on the opponents.
The German also noted some pointers obtained while watching a PSL game in midweek, alluding to The Buccaneers’ dominance over Bakgaga that ultimately resulted in a draw due to obscure tactics.
“Of course, we don’t get too much footage when we play certain teams – in the PSL, InStat and other portals are giving you a lot of information about opponents,” said Middendorp.
“Okay, it’s a little bit different with the upcoming opponent [Tornado] but we have recorded a game on our own, and we have observed them enough to have a basic idea of what has to be done.
“But 80 percent [of preparation] is our obligation to make it happen. We respect what is coming from the other side, of course, but we have to make it happen with a certain approach, particularly on the wings, against a team that probably doesn’t have an identity and will sit back to hit you on the counter – the typical stuff.
“I think we saw on the PSL level where you have a game [Pirates vs Baroka] and you can see how difficult it can be, with nearly 80 percent ball possession and I don’t know how many goal attempts, but in the end, they play a draw and it’s a pity situation.
“So, we have to mix up our own idea and go the right way from the beginning and that is definitely what we’re discussing in trying to prepare ourselves – hopefully successfully.”
