Chiefs managed a slender 1-0 victory over Eagles, who are placed 31 positions lower than them in the current standings of the two professional leagues in the country, to scrape through at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

It was a lethargic showing from Amakhosi, who returned to action two weeks since their last competitive match against Golden Arrows, though goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was hardly called into a real save.

The result was largely thanks to some fine individual work from Lebogang Manyama, who scored the lone goal of the match after flicking it over two defenders before lobbing goalkeeper

Meanwhile, Khama Billiat made a return from a month-long injury lay-off as he came on at half-time for Kearryn Baccus, with new signing Anthony Akumu Agay also making his debut for the club after coming on for George Maluleka, who put in a Man of the Match display.
