City are in for an exciting finish to the 2018/19 season, with Benni McCarthy’s side in amongst the Absa Premiership title race and still having a chance to bag the Nedbank Cup.
The Mother City outfit have six games remaining in the league campaign and are just three points adrift log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who – like third-placed Orlando Pirates – have a game in hand.
Despite the possibility of claiming their maiden championship, Links argues that they feel little pressure at the moment as they are aware of the risk of getting too excited.
“No, it can’t be [that City are feeling pressure]. I’m always telling people that coach Benni reminds us, ‘At Cape Town City, we take one game at a time,’” Links explains to snl24.com/kickoff.
“I know we’re still in for two cups – the Absa Premiership and the Nedbank Cup, so we’ll just play and see what happens come the end of the season.”
On Sunday, they could go one step closer towards a first Nedbank Cup final when they face Amakhosi in the quarterfinal at the Mbombela Stadium, and Links is excited to show up on the big stage.
“I was telling Frosler [in the preliminary SA under-23 camp] that we’re coming for them on the 31st. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but I like it when we play big games,” he notes.
“I’m just looking forward to it, because in such games is when you show your true character.”
