TS Galaxy secured their spot in the Nedbank Cup final after rallying from behind to defeat Golden Arrows 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Arrows handed starts to Sandile Zuke, Velemseni Ndwandwe, Knox Mutizwa and Lerato Lamola, while Galaxy gave Bathusi Aubaas, Thembinkosi Mbamba and Lucky Setelele a run.
Following their bright start, Arrows were pushed back afterwards as Lucky Setelele draw a save from Maximilian Mbaeva with a low shot.
With neither goalkeeper troubled in the final stages of the half, Arrows threatened a breakthrough before halftime through a few snap efforts from Denny Venter and Musa Bilankulu.
Abafana Besthende looked for the opener on 55 minutes, but Venter’s free-kick from outside the area failed to trouble Ludwe Mpakumpaku.
Arrows were awarded a penalty on 69 minutes after Sanele Mathenjwa was bumped off the ball. Mutizwa kept composure to send Mpakumpaku the wrong way.
Steve Komphela’s side then went to sleep and were nearly punished minutes later, but Zakhele Lepasa shot straight at Mbaeva.
The counterattacking approach from Arrows nearly paid off when Mutizwa struck the post in added time.
Soon after, from a corner Zuke flicked the ball into his own net to send the match to extra time. After a slow opening 30 minutes, Galaxy brought the second instalment to life.
Lepasa atoned for his earlier miss after 108 minutes with a well-taken right-footed finish from inside the area.
Galaxy added the final nail two minutes from time, as Lepasa completed his brace with a close-range finish to put the National First Division side in the final.
