The Dutch national team have struggled for results under Blind, winning just five of their nine matches since the coach was promoted from assistant in 2015.

And, following this weekend’s loss to Bulgaria, the Netherlands find themselves fourth in Group A, three points adrift of second and a further three behind leaders France.

KNVB director Jean Paul Decossaux further added: "We have respect for what Danny meant for us and for the team during his tenure. But because the sporting results, unfortunately, are disappointing, and now proceeds with difficulty qualifying for the World Cup in Russia, we feel unfortunately forced leave of him take.”
