New stadium for Thanda approved

More good news for the club is that the booking on player Bernard Parker has been rescinded.

The Premier Soccer League gave the Durban-based side that thumbs up to use the Mpumalanga Stadium, that seats about 10 000 fans, this week after PSL COO Prof Ronnie Schloss inspected the stadium and approved it.

Thanda have been using the Absa Stadium and KwaMashu’s Princess Magogo for their home venues in the past.

An excited Thanda manager Thabani Gumede said: “We believe that by playing in the Mpumalanga township we will garner a large support base. The move will further enhance our brand as we aim to take the club to greater heights.”

Meanwhile, Gumede revealed he was phoned by review-sub-committee chairman Steve Goddard and informed that Bernard Parker’s suspension has been rescinded.

This follows Thanda’s appeal after Parker was wrongfully booked during their Orlando Pirates in Durban last week. The player who was to have been cautioned was Brian Kgafane.
