Ngwenya, whose goal-scoring prowess since the start of the season has attracted interest from teams in Gauteng and Cape Town, met with AmaZulu management on Friday and penned his signature on a three-year contract.
Club PRO Philani Mabaso has confirmed the extended deal and praised the Edendale striker for his loyalty to the team.
“We are aware that some teams had already started approaching the player, but gone are the days when AmaZulu used to be the breeding ground for young stars destined for other teams in the Premiership.
“Ngwenya has been with the team for past three seasons and renewing his contract shows great loyalty to the team.
“During this time, Ngwenya has developed into one of the best strikers in the country and the environment at AmaZulu will allow him to grow in his career. We have no doubt that it is just a matter of time before he is called up to the Bafana Bafana squad.”
Mabaso added that they are still waiting for official details for the Asiphephe Road Safety tournament that is set for Durban next weekend.
The tournament is said to feature Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu and Golden Arrows.
