Okafor, who was close to signing with Norwegian first division side FK Haugesund in December, returned to South Africa from Finland on Tuesday morning with excitement written on his face after putting pen to paper with the modest club.
“My manager Arthur Aneke, who took me to Norway, is the one who arranged for me to go for the trials in Finland. We used indoor facilities for the trials because it is so cold there.
“Afterward I was offered a good contract that I immediately signed. I am going back, possibly next week, when my work permit has been sorted out so that I join the team for pre-season preparations. The season in Finland is due to start in April,” Okafor says.
KooTeePee finished a lowly 12th position last season in the 14 team league.
“While I am happy that I have a deal in Finland, I want to work towards moving to another league by performing consistently and scoring goals.” says the burly 26-year-old striker.
Okafor’s last season in South Africa was derailed though a leg injury.
