Parreira to open Soccerex

Soccerex 2007 spokesperson Billy Hunt said the Brazilian World Cup winning coach would officially open the stands next Monday, while Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who will be in the country for the 2010 World Cup preliminary draw, will deliver an address at the opening ceremony.

The four-day exhibition kicks off on Sunday at the Sandton Conventional Centre with a record 300 attendants and 5 000 delegates expected making it the biggest edition ever held.

A delegation of senior officials from the 2008 Fifa European Championships host cities, as well the English team bidding to host the 2012 Olympic Games, are set to attend.

Organisers believe that the fact that the exhibition coincides with the preliminary draw of the FIFA 2010 World Cup that South Africa will host will enhance the success of Soccerex.

Among the exhibitors will be four local clubs, namely Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Platinum Stars and Jomo Cosmos, who will be exhibiting alongside leading brands such as Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool among others.
