Disclosing this, Phakathi says he has just had a successful calf operation after incurring the injury during the Ajax Cape Town in the Mother City in December 14.
“I got knocked badly by Terror Fanteni and Granwald Scott and, at the time, I didn’t think it was too serious. But, when I got back to our hotel after the game, the injury became swollen, to the extent that I struggled to walk. I could only get around with crutches,” he tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Initially, I thought I would not be able to play again but then I went for an operation earlier this month, and everything appears to be coming right again.
“The physio has told me that I will be able to start jogging with the team within the next two weeks,” says the former Orlando Pirates’ player.
“Obviously, I would have loved to have contributed to the team’s rise this season, but what can I do. Their impressive results have uplifted me and I can’t wait to get back into action again.”
