Komphela is coming off a difficult first season in charge at Naturena, but watched as his side dominated the match and could have won by a greater margin.

REPORT: Chiefs claim deserved CBLCC win

“We performed well and we got a result. In any match you are looking at the performance and the outcome,” he told SuperSport.

Chiefs scored just before the hour-mark through Erick Mathoho, before netting a second late on via new Zambian forward Lewis Macha.

“I thought in the first half we could have gone into the dressingroom with at least one goal, but you can’t ask for more,” Komphela said.

“Macha came in, a nice glancing header, he’s a strong boy. I hope whatever we are working towards will come out the way we wish.

“The only thing that gives us pleasure is that most of the people here today … their levels of happiness will be in the red.”

Komphela says the game was a useful exercise in seeing some new combinations with the likes of Sibusiso Khumalo, Emmanuel Letlotlo and Macha getting a run.

“When you are a coach, the information you seek from the players is physical, technical, tactical and mental. But above all you are looking at the chemistry, do these people work together as a team? There is a lot that we picked up.

“It also is a confirmation of the steps we are going to take moving forward.”
