Abbubaker Mobara wants to achieve more than just playing for Orlando Pirates and SA U-23s

The 22-year-old has had a good couple of weeks, firstly joining the Buccaneers from Ajax Cape Town and then being included in Owen Da Gama’s Olympic squad.

Mobara, however, doesn’t feel he has “made it” and says he is not feeling any particular excitement yet and only wants to continue to work hard at improving his game.

“I’m trying to achieve bigger things in life,” Mobara says from the Under-23 training base at Milpark.

“I’m not saying Pirates is not a big team, it’s quite an enormous team, with a good history, but I don’t think really it’s a big step in my life.

“Maybe Rio … I’m not really excited. I don’t know maybe when the excitement will come in, probably when I’m on my way to Rio,” he adds.

Mobara played the full 90 minutes as the Under-23s battled to a 1-1 draw against Bidvest Wits in a practice match earlier today.
