Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli has promised each player in the squad some land following their 3-0 victory over Uganda in Dar es Salaam this past weekend.

The Bakgaga defender has reserved a special thank you to Magufuli for his gesture.

"I am at a loss for words to say about Mr President. I only want to say may God bless him. I am going to use [the land] to build a house," Banda said.

The Taifa Stars last qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 1980 when their current national team coach Emmanuel Amunike was only nine years old.

Banda is already looking beyond the AFCON finals and believes the tournament will open many doors for Tanzanian players in their football careers.

"I am so happy. This is not only about qualifying for the AFCON finals but also making history in our careers," he added.

"I am very proud of my country for qualifying for the AFCON. This is also going to give us a chance to find new job opportunities for players."
