Arrows were unchanged from their narrow win over Cape Town City, while Usuthu brought in Thembela Sikhakhane, Marc Van Heerden, Sphesihle Maduna and Ovidy Karuru.

Usuthu drew first blood 12 minutes in when Sadat Ouro-Akoriko moved around the defence area for an easy header past Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva.

AmaZulu's joy was short-lived, as Divine Lunga poked home from the rebound off the crossbar following Richard Matloga’s curling free-kick six minutes later.

Chances were then brought to a premium, with Danny Venter’s low free-kick the most notable effort on target in the remainder of the opening half.

Arrows were forced to make a change at the start of the second half, with Matloga replaced through injury by Knox Mutizwa.

Abafana Besthende looked to be in poor shape from set-plays on 53 minutes after Michael Morton’s half-volley narrowly missed target.

A minute later, Siyabonga Dube’s cross-cum shot from the right side flashed the post after a darting run as both sides looked to open up each other.

Arrows decided to go all out on 61 minutes, with the introduction of striker Lerato Lamola for Sanele Mathenjwa, while Usuthu introduced veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvete as their first change in the final quarter.

However, neither side was able to find the winner in the latter stages of the second half as it ended honours even in the rural city of Clermont, leaving both sides in mid-table.
