Absa Premiership match report Golden Arrows v Chippa United 22 September 2018

Arrows turned possession early on and set-up Lerato Lamola who shot narrowly across the face of goal.

The pendulum swung at both ends towards the halfway point, as the playing conditions made life difficult for either side to hit their stride.

The home side though were more adverse on their way of doing business, sussing out the visitors with their short build-ups.

Mostly the play of this game was construed in the middle which inadvertently led to a few half-chances on goal.

A scramble through the box indirectly played in Danny Venter to have a shot that just missed the target on 22 minutes.

The first piece of action from Chippa found Kurt Lentjies firing a free-kick from outside the box just over the bar on 35 minutes.

There was more pressure from the visitors on 37 minutes when a shot from Andile Mbenyane from the right forced Nkosingiphile Gumede to make a save.

The rusty nature of the game continued well to the second half, as both sides struggled to open each other up.

Clinton Larsen opted for his first change on 50 minutes, as Nduduzo Sibiya replaced Lamola to liven up their attacking stall.

After both sides failed to find the breakthrough, Chippa’s first change happened after 65 minutes as Thamsanqa Sangweni took the place of Tercious Malepe.

Larsen threw his final straw to try and steal the points, with Wayde Jooste replacing Sibusiso Sibeko in the last quarter.
