Their season opener takes place on August 23 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and in the lead up to that fixture they have nine planned training matches.
The players have been working hard in pre-season training so far but according to a statement on the Ajax Cape Town club website only training matches can fully prepare them for the competitive fixtures to come.
"The fitness, strength and conditioning training given to our boys by Derick Malone is vital to the players reaching their full potential as soon as possible, however, only football games can give our boys the match fitness and realistic intensity needed to prepare best for the long season ahead," a club statement read.
