Ajax Cape Town's Grant Margeman credits Vladislav Heric for impressive rise

The 18-year-old is enjoying his breakthrough season with the Urban Warriors following his debut in August, and has notched up two goals in four starts and six substitute appearances so far this term.

And the youngster is quick to point out the man who he says has helped him fulfil his undeniable potential.

“Credit has to go to coach Vladislav, our MDC coach here at Ajax,” he tells KickOff.com. “He’s always the one talking to me on the field, off the field, helping me and giving me advice. After games I’ll always go talk to him and ask him about my performances and what areas to work on.

“He’s helped me a lot at Ajax, with our style of play, and encouraged me to stay focused and play my normal game.”

Margeman was part of the national Under-20 team that secured their passage to the U-20 World Cup in South Korea following their fourth-place finish at the recent Afcon final in Zambia, where he scored in a group stage game against Sudan.

The talented midfielder hopes to continue making an impact for both club and country, and see his name more often on the scoresheet.

“I’d really like to finish the season with six goals, get some more assists,” he says. “And to get more starts, and help Ajax finish in the top eight. For the national team, I’d like to get myself some more caps, help where I can and hopefully score some more goals.”

Thirteenth-placed Ajax are next in action against Highlands Park in a league fixture set for Wednesday.
