Cape Town City appear to have beaten DStv Premiership new-boys Swallows FC for out-of-favour Mamelodi Sundowns winger Aubrey Ngoma.

Ngoma was more than willing to join The Beautiful Birds for the 2020/21 season but according to an insider at City, the player is now expected to arrive in Cape Town to seal a deal.

"I think Aubrey is signing here, I heard people talking about it in the club corridors," an inside source tells KickOff.com.

"That's what we were told today at the club by some of the guys in the management. I don't know exactly when he's arriving, but I think tomorrow. We will see if it really happens tomorrow.

"Remember, Cape Town City is like home to him. All I heard is that he was expected to arrive here maybe tomorrow or so. Everything will be much clearer tomorrow though. If he doesn't arrive tomorrow, then it means Swallows won."

Contacted for comment, Ngoma's agent Vasili Barbis confirms there is interest from The Citizens but makes it clear that at this stage there is nothing concrete.

"No, nothing has been done yet bro. We are still waiting. We are still waiting, you saw what happened yesterday in the news [regarding Pitso Mosimane]," Barbis says.

"We are just waiting on them [Sundowns]. Yes, they have submitted to take him but nothing is finalised."

Asked about what happened to the interest from Swallows, he replies: "No no no, the boy is interested in Cape Town City, and they have come with the most intent to take him.

"It's just that at the moment Sundowns have got their stuff they're dealing with you know. You're not going to put pressure, they've just lost their coach. Obviously they are gathering the information on what they need to do with the club, and they will come back.

"There's been an offer from Cape Town City, there's genuine interest, but nothing has been done yet and everyone is waiting to get back from each side. Obviously they are front-runners and Aubrey, you know where he made his career.

"That said, there is nothing more to it at the moment, nothing has been finalised."

Attempts to get hold of City chairman John Comitis proved fruitless.
