The Amajita and Bafana defender suffered a calf injury in Ajax's friendly game against Santos on Tuesday. The 18-year-old has still not made a senior appearance this season.
De Sa says that the reason why the youngster didn’t take part in today’s training session was due to that injury.
“Aya pulled out with an injury from Tuesday’s game and he has been called up to Bafana and so we just want to let him recover a little bit,” De Sa says.
The Ajax mentor says that no final decision has been made on whether Magqwaka will join the Bafana camp on Monday because the Ajax medical team is still looking at his injury.
“We don’t know [if he’ll join Bafana] yet, the medical team will treat him today. We pulled him out as a precaution because his calf muscle is stiff and tight so if he had training today I’m sure by tomorrow it would’ve been much worse.”
Meanwhile striker Nathan Paulse is also not a hundred percent ready to play but the coach says a final call will be made on Saturday if he’ll join the team or not.
“Nathan has an outside chance, we are going to wait until Saturday and make the call then if he’ll join the team. He still has same difficulties and we don’t want to risk it and lose him out for six months.“
