The former Maritzburg United star has been released by the GladAfrica Championship side and is now a free agent.
The 27-year-old arrived at Stars in August last year on a one-year contract but played only four games for Ea Lla Koto in the 2019/20 season without scoring.
According to a reliable source, the player left the club just before the national lockdown.
"I'm also hearing rumours about AmaZulu and Maritzburg. His contract was going to expire during the national lockdown so they decided to terminate the agreement since they were headed into uncertain terms," the source tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"He is not sure yet but KZN might be on the cards. Soon he will be going to Arrows. He still needs to go there and hear exactly what needs to be done. It is not a trial."
Meanwhile, Usuthu general manager Lunga Sokhela has shed more light on the presence of Siphelele Mthembu at the club.
"Yes, he's come to us for assessment... since last week Thursday. We are glad to have him back for an assessment," Sokhela says.
"If you remember, before Siphelele even went on that debacle with Chiefs and Pirates, he grew up here at AmaZulu Football Club."
