Bafana Bafana news: Stuart Baxter calls up Aubrey Modiba for Seychelles camp

accreditation

Baxter on Monday named a 24-man squad to face The Pirates in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying doubler header on October 13 and 16.

However, the Briton has since handed a late call-up to SuperSport United utility player Aubrey Modiba to increase the numbers to 25.

It would seem Modiba reminded Baxter of what he would be missing with a stunning free-kick goal against Polokwane City on Tuesday evening, prompting his immediate inclusion into the squad.

The 23-year-old fullback was previously part of the national team plans as he featured at the Four Nations spectacle in Zambia in March, at the COSAFA Cup in May-June this year, and again as a second-half substitute against Libya last month.

The two also worked together during Baxter's spell at SuperSport, before the tactician joined Bafana at the end of last season.

The School of Excellence product and Nedbank Ke Yona graduate has scored in successive Absa Premiership fixtures for Matsatsantsa recently, but was unfortunate to miss out on the MTN8 trophy as the club lost to Cape Town City in the final over the weekend.
