He told French radio he has been honoured by the interest but has a contract with Morocco where he serves as Herve Renard’s assistant.

Beaumelle was briefly in charge of Zambia after Renard left the job but has since joined up with his mentor as assistant of the Ivory Coast, when they won last year’s African Nations Cup title, and now Morocco.

Zambian newspapers have been speculating that there has been an approach to former Bafana Bafana coach Philippe Troussier, while L’Equipe said Bertrand Marchand, a former national team coach of Tunisia, had been approached for the job.

FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe said there had been 17 applicants to replace George Lwandamina, who has been serving in a caretaker capacity while also keeping up his job in charge of Zanaco, who are competing in the African Champions League.
